Salut tout le monde,
Depuis ma dernière mise à jour j'ai fait encore deux autres voyages. Je sais j'arrète pas.. mais je vous assure que je travaille un peu aussi.

Donc au début du mois de juillet j'ai fait un petit voyage de 5 jours avec Vicky, une amie Canadienne du travail, nous sommes allée à Palma de Mallorque, une île espagnole dans la mer Méditéranienne. Nous avons fait de la plage, nous nous sommes reposée beaucoup et nous avons fait une petite excursion d'une journée sur l'île. Nous avons visitée une manifacture de perle, une autre de verre souflé ensuite une grotte, par la suite une des plus belle plage de l'île pour terminé avec une dégustation de liqueur typique. Je suis revenue reposée et avec un beau bronzage.

Ensuite vers la fin du mois, j'ai fait un petit voyage avec Isabelle à Prague en République Tchèque. Nous avons fait un petit voyage de 5 jours, un vraiment beau voyage. Nous avons fait le tour de la ville à pied, nous avons visitée tout les plus gros sites à voir de Prague. Nous avons fait une croissière en soirée sur la rivière Vltava, qui était magnifique. Nous avons aussi fait la tournée des bars organisé, nous avons été dans la plus grande boîte de nuit de l'Europe central. C'était une nuit vraiment amusante.

Donc, juillet a été un mois qui a encore une fois vite passé.. la vie à Lausanne reste toujours pareille, nous avons de plus en plus un grand cercle d'amis, je me crée une petite vie ici.

En août, Renée ma très bonne amie de l'université va venir me visité en Suisse et nous allons aussi faire un petit voyage de 4 nuits à Paris. J'ai bien hâte de la voir.

Hello everyone,
Since my last update I did two other small trips, I promise that I do work sometimes... I know I never stop...

At the beginning of this month I did a little 5 day trip to Palma de Mallorca, one of the Spanish islands, with a Canadien friend Vicky from work. We spent our days relaxing lounging on the beaches and on our last day we did an excursion around the island. We visited a perl and a blown glass manufacture, we then went to an underground grotto followed by one of Palma's nicest beaches and then we ended our day with tasting some of Palma's tipical liquors. I came back rested and with a nice tan.

At the end of the month of July, Isabelle and I took a little trip to Tchek Republic to Prague. We had a wonderful 5 day trip. We walked through the city and saw all of the main sites. One evening we did a dinner cruise on the Vltava river, which was wonderful and then on our last night we did a pub crawl. We went to the largest club in all of central Europe, it was a really fun night.

So July went by very quickly, life here in Lausanne is still about the same. I'm making more and more friends and i'm creating a little life for myself here.

In August, Renée a friend from back home that I went to university with is coming for a visit and we will be doing a small 4 night trip to Paris. I'm really looking forward to seeing her.

Il est grand temps que je fais une mise à jour sur mon site. Ca fait bien trop longtemps!!

Le mois de mai a passé vraiment vite, en premier avec une superbe visite de mon frère Nicholas et de ma belle sœur Nadine. Ils étaient en voyage de lune de miel, nous avons eux 4 jours ensemble pour visiter Lausanne, le village de Gruyère et pour terminer Genève. J'ai tellement appréciée leur visite et j'ai hâte de les revoirs.

J'ai terminée le mois de mai avec un long voyage de 11 jours en Finlande et en Suède accompagné de mon ami Jérémie, il est aussi un collègue de travail. Nous avons visité Helsinki pour 3 jours, par la suite, nous avons pris le train de nuit pour Rovaniemi dans le nord de la Finlande où il a fait clair pendant 24hr et nous avons visité le village du Père Noël. Nous avons ensuite repris le train de nuit en direction de Helsinki pour après prendre un vol vers Stockholm en Suède pour une durée de 3 nuits. Lors de ce voyage, nous avons eu la chance de voir beaucoup de superbes paysages, visiter beaucoup de musées, de châteaux et de forteresses, et il ne faut surtout pas oublié le montant de rire que nous avons eu.

Le mois de juin ensuite a encore plus vite passé, j'ai eu la grande visite de deux amies d'Ottawa, Shannon et Julie le 11. Je les aient fait visité Genève et Lausanne, et il ne faut surtout pas oublié la visite dans nos clubs préférés de Lausanne. Ensuite, le 13 juin nous avons pris vol pour l'Espagne. Nous avons visité Barcelone pour 3 jours, ensuite prit le train pour Valence où nous avons resté qu'une nuit. Le lendemain nous nous sommes envolé vers Ibiza où nous avons fait de la plage pour deux jours et eux l'expérience des grandes discothèques de la place, en plus d'avoir célébré ma fête de 26 ans. Par la suite nous avons repris l'avion mais cette fois vers Madrid et nous avons resté que deux nuits. Un voyage superbe avec beaucoup de beaux souvenirs avec mes copines. J'ai eu de la peine à leur dire au revoir.

A mon retour de l'Espagne, j'étais toujours en vacances pour une semaine, donc j'ai relaxé. En raison du nombre de Québecois ici à Lausanne, nous avons célébré la fête de la St-Jean Batiste près du Lac Leman, avec des BBQ portables et un gros feu de camps. Il faut surtout pas oublié la bière. C'était une belle soirée.

En plus depuis le début du mois de juin, j'ai commencé dans l'unité des soins continues de mon département. J'aime bien et je ne regrette pas ce transfert, j'adore pouvoir faire des soins plus aigues. En plus l'ambiance est vraiment bien.

Je ne peux pas croire que j'entame mon 6ièmme mois ici en Suisse, que le temps passe vite. Le 2 juillet je pars pour Palma de Mallorque une île en Espagne avec Vicky une amie du travail pour 5 jours de plages. Ensuite vers la fin du mois je vais faire un autre petit voyage avec Isabelle à Prague en République Tchèque. J'ai bien hâte à mes nouvelles aventures. 

Les gens de chez nous me manque beaucoup, j'espère que vous allez bien célébré la fête du Canada!!!

Hello everyone,

I think this is a well deserved update on my wall. It has been way too long.

May started off with a very nice visit from my brother Nicholas and my sister in law Nadine. They were in Europe for their honeymoon and made a stop in Switzerland to visit. We had 4 days together, we visited Lausanne, the village of Gruyère and also Geneva. I really appreciated their visit here, and I cant wait for the next time we will see each other.

I ended the month of May with a trip to Finland and Sweden with my friend from work Jeremie. We started in Helsinki for 3 nights, then took the overnight train up north to Ravaniami for one night, where there was light for 24hrs and we visited the Santa Claus village. We took the night train back to Helsinki so we could fly out to Stockholm in Sweden for another 3 nights. During this trip we saw amazing scenery, visited a lot of museums, castles and forteresses. We cannot forget the amount of laughs we had throughout this trip.  

June crept up and ended just as fast. On June 11th I had a fabulous visit from two Ottawa friends, Shannon and Julie. They started their trip in Switzerland, where I showed them around Geneva and Lausanne, we cannot forget the night spent in our favorite Lausanne clubs. On the 13th we took the plane to Spain, we landed in Barcelona for 3 nights, then took the train to Valencia only for a night, from where we flew out to Ibiza for 3 days of sun, beaches and we experienced the Ibiza nightlife, we also celebrated my 26th birthday. We then flew out to Madrid for 2 nights. We had an amazing trip together, with a lot of great memories. I'm glad we did this together. I was very sad to see them go.

When I returned from Spain I was still on vacation for the week, so I relaxed and stayed in Lausanne. Since there is such a large population of people in Lausanne from Quebec we celebrated the St-Jean Baptiste by the Leman Lake with portable BBQs and a big bond fire and of course we cant forget the beer. It was a good night.

Also, I started in the step down unit in ENT at the beginning of June. I really like it and I'm glad I transferred in. I really enjoy doing more acute nursing.

I still cant believe that I am now in my 6th month here in Switzerland, time does fly. This month, on the 2nd i'm leaving for Palma de Mallorque, an island in Spain, with Vicky a friend of mine from work, we will be spending 5 days on the sunny beaches. Then, at the end of the month I am going with Isabelle to Prague in Tcheque Republique. I'm really looking forward to these new exciting adventures.

I do miss everyone back home a lot and I hope you will all have a fantastic Canada Day.

Salut tout le monde.

Je sais, ca fait longtemps que j'ai écris mais peu c'est passé depuis mon voyage à Londres. Sauf que suite à plusieurs nuits incomfortable et des douleurs lombaires, je me suis procuré un lit double au Ikea. Vicky, une amie, et moi avons louée une camionette chez Ikea afin de faire le transport du lit, que j'étais contente ma première nuit dans ce lit tellement comfortable. Maintenant j'ai vraiment la place pour de la visite!  A part de cela, j'ai eu mon évaluation de 3 mois au travail et j'ai eu la garantie de mon emploi ici en plus que je vais être transféré dès juin dans l'unité des soins continues, qui est comme l'unité dans lequel je travaillais à Ottawa, je suis vraiment contente.

La semaine dernière Isabelle, Cynthia et moi avons fait un petit voyage à la Cote d'Azur. Isabelle et moi avons quittée Lausanne le 21 pour Nice. Les deux premiers jours, nous avons visitée la ville de Nice et nous avons passée une journée à Monaco.

Lors de notre visite de Nice, nous avons pris le petit train tourristique afin de voir tout les sites accompagné du documentaire. Nous avons aussi trouvée de bon petit resto en soirée, et le magasinage est simplement magnifique, mais en raison du budget nous avons été vraiment sage.

Monaco est à 45min d'autobus de Nice et est très près de l'Italie, donc cette petite ville à un charm italien. C'est une ville très dispendieuse avec beaucoup de boutique haute couture et un casino énorme. De plus, la cathédrale de Monaco est bien connue par le fait que la Princesse Grace Kelly à épousée le Prince Rainier de Monaco et est de plus enterrer dans cette Cathédrale suite à son décès tragique en 1982. Il y a aussi le Grand Prix de formule 1 qui se passe à Monaco. Lors de notre visite ils étaient en plein montage de cette évènement grandiose pour la fin du mois de mai. Monaco est simplement magnifique...

Le matin du 24, Cynthia nous a rejoint pour terminer le voyage. Nous avions fait une location de voiture afin de pouvoir conduire au long de la Méditérané. Nous avions fait location d'une petite voiture économique, mais suite à des complications Europcar n'en avait plus d'automatique donc nous avons eu pour le même prix un Dodge Journey, qu'elle grosse différence. Nous avons ensuite pris le route pour Cannes.

Une fois arrivée à Cannes et avec un peu de difficulté nous avons trouvée notre hotel, pas de luxe dutout, vraiment vieux... mais les draps était propre, du moin je l'espère, la chambre nous a couté que 51 Euro pour la nuit!  Nous avons ensuite garré la voiture pour faire un petit tour à pied de Cannes. Nous avons visité le site du festival de film de cannes et nous avons longé la plage pour admiré les hotels grandiose. Nous avons bien profité du beau soleil sur la plage! Par après, nous avons encore une fois pris le petit train pour faire la visite de Cannes. Le conducteur m'a permit de m'asseoire dans sa locomotive! Après le petit tour, Cynthia et moi voulons retournée en enfance et nous avons été prendre le carousel! Nous avons bien terminé notre jour dans un restaurant avec une bonne bouteille de vin et par la suite nous sommes allée a un des fameux casino de Cannes.

Le lendemain, dont le 25, nous avons pris un bateau pour allée visité l'ile de Ste-Marguerite, ou se trouve le fort auquel le prisonnier au masque de fer à fait son temps de prison. De retour sur terre, nous avons repris la route direction de Hyeres les Palmiers, La Capte, à la pointe de la Cote d'Azur qui est en faite en Provence. Nous avons trouvée notre hotel au bord de la mer, mais puisque il avait tellement de vent ont a pas été capable de profité pleinement du soleil, mais par contre nous avons été capable d'admirer les gens qui faisaient de la voile. En soirée nous avons sortie mangé et ensuite prendre un verre dans un bar près du port de La Capte.

Le 26, nous avons décidé de prendre la route et de longé le bord de la mer pour retourner à Nice, nous nous sommes arrêté à Saint-Tropez pour le lunch et nous avons profité pour visité la Citadelle de Saint-Tropez, qui est en fait le fort construit afin de prévenir la ville d'attaques de l'Espagne. Nous avons repris la route et fait quelques arrêts pour admirer le magnifique paysage. C'était vraiment exceptionnel. Une fois arrivé à Nice nous avons montré un peu la ville à Cynthia, nous avons mangé et rentré à l'hôtel puisque notre vol était très tôt le lendemain.

Nous sommes maintenant de retour à Lausanne, nous avons fait un voyage vraiment magnifique. Je suis en processus de planifié le prochain voyage, peut-être la Finlande.. à voir! Mais premièrement j'aurai une visite de mon frère Nicholas et de ma belle soeur Nadine. J'espère que vous allez aimée mes photos.

Hello everyone

I know its been a while since I've written, but since my trip to London not much has happened. Except that after multiple umcomfortable nights and a lot of back pain, I decided to invest in a double bed from Ikea. Vicky, a new friend, and I rented a van from Ikea to transport the bed to my place. I was so happy to sleep in the new bed that night. Also I had my three month evaluation at work last week, and I've passed the three month trial, which means that I have a garanteed job here and to top it off I will be transfered into the step down unit here as of June, which is basically like the unit I was working in at the Ottawa Hospital, I'm really looking forward to it.

Last week, Isabelle, Cynthia and I took a little trip to France in La Cote d'Azur. Isabelle and I left Lausanne on the 21st and spent two nights in Nice. We did a day trip to Monaco.

While in Nice, we decided to take the little touristic train so we could see all the sites. We then walked around, and later on found a great restaurant for dinner. Shopping in Nice is also fantastic, just that the budget wasnt there and so we behaved.

Monaco is a 45min bus ride from Nice and it's very close to Italy, so it has a certain Italien charm to it. Its a very expensive city, with lots of haute couture shops and a gigantic casino. Also, the Cathedral is well know for the fact that Princess Grace Kelly was married to Prince Rainier, Prince of Monaco, in it and was also burried in it following her very tragic death in 1982. Monaco is also home of the Grand Prix formula 1 racing competition, while we were there they were setting up the site since it's at the end of May. Monaco is just simply beautiful...

On the morning of the 23rd, we met Cynthia at the airport. We were also picking up our rental car. When I made the reservation, I asked for an economic automatic car, and when we got to the counter they were unable to give us an economic car, so we ended up with a 4X4 Dodge Journey for the same price.... we were then off to Cannes.

Once in Cannes, with a bit of difficulty we found our hotel, what a dump that was, no luxury at all, it was old! But it was clean... we hoped! We then parked the car downtown and walked around the streets of Cannes, we saw the site to the famous Cannes Film Festival, we admired all the amazing hotels and then we took advantage of the sun on the beach. We then decided to take once again the little touristic train around the city. The conductor even let me sit in the driver seat for a picture. After the tour, Cynthia and I wanted to go back into our childhood and took a ride on the carousel! We ended our day with a wonderful dinner and a bottle of wine, and then we opted for a little gambling at the Cannes casino.

The 24th, we decided to take a boat from Cannes out to Ste-Marguerite island, just 15 minutes out, where it is famous for the fort in which the man in the iron mask was kept prisoner. We wondered around the island for a while and once back on land we drove out to Hyeres les Palmiers, La Capte, which is at the tip of La Cote d'Azur. We found our hotel which was right by the water, but in reason of the insane winds we were unable to fully appreciate the sun but there were plenty of wind surfers out on the water, it was great to watch. We then later went out for dinner and then for a couple of drinks by the port of La Capte.

The next day, the 25th, we decided to take the scenic route back to Nice. We drove the coast and stopped to admire the beautiful view once in a while, we also stopped for lunch in St-Tropez. We also visited the St-Tropez Citadelle, which is a beautiful that was built so they could watch out for any possible Spanish invasions. The view was just incredible throughout the entire day. Once back to Nice, we took Cynthia for a walk to show her a bit of the city, we then had dinner and returned to our hotel as we were leaving early the next morning.

Now we are back in Lausanne, we had a wonderful time. Now I am planning my next trip, potentially Finland... we'll see, stay tuned! But first, I will have the visit of my brother Nick and my sister in law Nadine. Hope you enjoy my pictures.

Bonjour,

Depuis la dernière mise à jour, nous, Isabelle, Cynthia et moi avons fait un petit voyage à Londres. Nous avons eu une vraiment belle fin de semaine. Nous avons passée 3 nuits, 4 jours en tout. Un peu trop court mais suffisant pour voir un peu de tout, à retournée nous allons pouvoir voir certaines choses plus en détails.

Nous avons pris l'avion vendredi en après midi de l'aéroport de Genève pour Londres, une fois arrivée nous avons pris le bus pour se rendre à notre auberge de jeunesse, le Palmer's Lodge. De là nous nous sommes installée et par la suite sortie pour nous trouvée une place à manger. Nous avons trouvée un pub très sympathique et nous sommes ensuite rentrée à l'auberge.

Le lendemain nous avons pris le métro pour le centre-ville pour prendre un autobus à deux étages pour un tour guidé de la ville, cette autobus nous permettais de faire autant d'arrêt durant 24hrs. Alors nous avons fait le tour de la ville, où nous avons vue tout les plus gros monuments de la ville de Londres. Nous avons vue le London Bridge, London Tower, La Cathédrale St Paul, le parlement, le Big Ben etc.. Il y en a TELLEMENT! Nous avons décidé de sortir de l'autobus au Palais de Buckingham et comme nous arrivions il y avait tellement de monde et nous avons réalisé que nous étions en temps pour le changement des gardes au palais. Alors nous avons assisté à la cérémonie. Ensuite nous avons marché dans les jardins royales afin de retourné au centre ville pour prendre le London Eye. Une roue de 36 000 pieds où tu peux voir le ville de tout angle, c'était vriament magnifique.

En soirée nous avons fait la tournée des bars avec un groupe tout organisé, nous avons eu beaucoup de plaisir et nous sommes rentré à 3h30 du matin! belle soirée!!

Le dimanche nous nous sommes rendue au London Tower pour un tour guidée du magnifique chateau. Nous avons vue où tout les grandes reines et rois ont vécu, où certaines personnes célèbre ont perdu leurs vie en étant décapité tel que la reine Anne Boleyn en 1536, vraiment incroyable. Ensuite, nous avons fait le tour en croisière sur la rivière.

En soirée nous sommes allée pour une marche puisque nous voulions voir Londres illuminé, nous avons traversé la rivière sur le pond du millenium aussi appelé le Wibbily Wobbily Bridge. Nous sommes aussi allé au Globe Theater ou tellement de pièce de William Shakespear on été réalisé. Par la suite, nous avons sortie dans une boîte prendre un ver et dansé un peu.

Déjà lundi et nous avons dù retourner chez nous à Lausanne. Nous avons fait un voyage vraiment magnifique avec tellement d'histoire... j'aurai tellement aimée rester plus longtemps!

J'ai réalisée durant ce voyage que ceci n'est que le début de la beauté que je vais voir durant mon temps en Europe, j'ai vraiment hâte de voir ce que je vais découvrir prochainement.

Well hello!

Since the last update on here, we, Isabelle, Cynthia and I went for a little weekend trip to London. We had a wonderful weekend. We went for 3 nights, 4 days, which was really fast and I wish I didnt have to return so quickly but I will return and when I do, I will be able to do things more in detail.

We flew from Geneva last friday afternoon to London, from the airport we took a bus to our youth hostel, The Palmer's Lodge. We quickly got settled in and then went for a walk to familiarise ourselves and we found a little pub close by and we had dinner. We then returned to the hostel.

The next day we went to centre town to take a double decker get on drop off tour bus. We could get off and go back on as much as we wanted for a 24hr period. It was fantastic, we saw all the major monuments from London Bridge, London Tower, The Parliement, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, St-Paul's Cathedral to The Buckingham Palace. We decided to get off at Buckingham Palace and we were wondering why there were so many people in front of the palace, but then realised that we were on time for the changing of the guards. We then walked in the royal gardens to return in centre town to go up in the London Eye, which is a 36 000feet high ferris wheel, from the top you can see London entirely and it is simply amazing.

We then returned to the hostel to get ready for a night out since we were joining a pub crawl that evening. We had a great time and returned to the hostel at 330am.

On Sunday we decided to go directly to London Tower for a guided tour. We were able to walk where all the great Kings and Queens have walked and we were able to stand where some very important people were decaputated such as Queen Anne Boleyn in 1536. It was simply mind blowing. We then took a cruise on the river to see London from yet another angle.

That evening we decided to walk around London a little bit since we wanted to see London light at night. We crossed the river on the Millenium bridge also know as the Wibbily Wobbily Bridge, we also stopped at the Globe Theater where most of William Shakespear's plays were produced in his time. We then went to a a club for a drink and dancing.

The next day it was already time to leave and return home to Lausanne. We had a fantastic time, a trip filled with history and beautiful things...I wish I would have been able to stay a little bit longer.

I realised during this trip that this was just the beggining of the many different beautiful things I will explore during my time here in Europe.  I cant wait to see what I will explore next.

Bonjour,

Wow, j'ai de la difficulté à croire que je suis ici déjà depuis plus d'un moi. Alors depuis ma dernière mise à jour nous avons fait une petite fin de semaine à Berne, qui est plus au nord ainsi que dans la partie allemande de la Suisse. Isabelle, Andrée-Ann, Cynthia et moi avons prit le train samedi matin pour Berne et nous nous sommes trouvé un hôtel près du centre-ville pour la nuit. À notre grande surprise à la sortie de la gare nous avons réalisé que Berne avait leur carnaval ce samedi. Il y avait plein de gens dans les rues en costumes. Nous avions l'impression que c`était un mélange entre la fête du Canada et l'hallowe'en. Il y avait un parade qui se passait dans la rue principale avec plusieurs fanfares. C'était vraiment quelque chose. Je vais ajouter des photos ainsi que des vidéos.

Et là la semaine dernière à été vraiment difficile pour moi puisque j'ai été très malade. Mon amydalites n'était pas partie et avait enfait descendue plus loin dans ma gorge et affectait une de mes cordes vocales(selon le résident d'ORL ici), j'ai du prendre une journée de maladie du travail et j'ai été couchée pendant 3 jours complet. Mais maintenant je suis de retour au travail et chaque jour je vais mieux. Ce n'était pas facile d'être malade ici seule! 

Le prochain voyage en vue est Londre dans deux fin de semaines. J'ai vraiment hâte.

Hey everyone,

Wow, I cant believe I've been here for more than a month now. Since my last update we did a little weekend getaway in Bern, which is more northern and is in the German part of Switzerland. Isabelle, Andrée-Ann, Cynthia and myself, took the train to Berne and rented a hotel for the Saturday night close to center town. To our surprise at the exit of the train station we realised that Bern was having a carnaval that saturday. Everyone was dressed up in costumes and roaming the streets. It gave it a feel of a mix between Canada day and Halloween. The main street was closed for a parade with many marching bands. Attached you will find pictures and some videos.

And then last week I ended up being really sick, my tonsilitis hadn't completely gone away and moved down into my throat and was touching my right vocal cord (said the ENT resident). It left me no choice but to call in sick for a day and I ended up staying in bed for 3 days. Now I'm back to work and each day I am feeling better. It wasn't easy being sick here all by myself.

The next trip we are planning is London in two weekends, I`m really looking forward to it.

Bonjour,

Je suis contente de pouvoir partager avec vous photos et petites histoires de mes aventures en Europe. J'ai eu quelques problèmes d'internet donc je commence aujourd'hui à vous raconter comment vont les choses içi.

J'ai quittée Ottawa le 28 janvier avec beaucoup de peine puisque je laissais beaucoup de gens derrière par contre j'avais très hâte d'entreprendre cette aventure nouvelle et excitante. Nous avons quittée Ottawa en grosse tempète hivernale, et donc j'ai eu un délai à Montréal de plus d'une heure. En conséquence, j'ai manquée mon vol à Heathrow, Londre. Par contre, j'ai rencontrée une fille du nom de Maude, qui elle aussi se dirigait en suisse, mais elle à Genève pour ses études. Alors nous nous sommes gardée compagnie. Arrivée à Genève une amie de Maude nous a aider à trouver le train direction Genève ainsi que Lausanne en plus de nous aider avec nos multiple valises super pesante. Arriver à Lausanne j'ai eu un sentiment de bien être et de "mon dieu" je vais vivre ici... WOW.

Arriver dans mon appartement qui est gros pour un appart à Béthusy. Je me suis toute de suite installer un peu, pris une douche et ensuite je suis partie me balader dans le cartier de Chailly. Comme de raison puisqu'il était passé 19hr tout était fermé, par contre j'ai pu me trouver quelque chose à manger. Cette première nuit à été plutôt difficile puisque je me retrouvais seule dans un endroit complètement inconnu. À la sortie de mon appart le lendemain j'ai rencontrer trois filles qu'elles aussi venaient d'arriver et nous sommes tous devenue amies, Cynthia, Isabelle et Maryse. Ont est partie ensemble afin de se retrouver dans la ville et se procurer certaine choses essentielles tel que notre carte pour le transport en commun qui nous permet d'avoir les billets de train, bus et métro à moitié prix en Suisse. En soirée, Isabelle, Cynthia et moi sommes sortie pour la première fois à Lausanne au Bleu Lézard, ont c'est fait un fun noir! Les bars ici ferment à 5hr du matin!!

Le lendemain de notre sortie ont c'est dirigée au Ikea afin de garnir notre petit chez nous. J'en suis sortie avec deux GROS sacs plein de trucs surtout pour la cuisine et salle de bain, je me suis sentie comme un yak de montagne en les transportant! Nous avons pris, bus, métro et train pour se rendre au Ikea. Et à la sortie du métro il y a une dame qui ne me laissait pas sortir et puisque les portes automatique n'ont pas de détecteur, les portes ont fermé sur moi. Les gens dans le métro me poussaient et les filles me tiraient. J'ai eu peur, mais j'en suis sortie sans me faire mal ou briser mes choses d'Ikea! Par contre, que nous avont rient.

Le lundi le 2 février nous avons commencer la nouvelle job. Qu'elle différence. Les deux premiers jours de la semaine ainsi que le vendredi étaient des jours d'orientation en classe et ensuite le mercredi et jeudi nous étions sur le département. Je suis arrivée chez nous mercredi soir et j'étais complètement débousolée. J'ai toujours de la difficultée à comprendre pourquoi les soins de patients surtout les évaluations de la tête au pieds n'est pas une nécessité dans tout centre hospitaliers du monde. Je me rends compte que cette job me permettra de voyager et de vivre plusieurs expériences incroyable mais ne serai peut-être pas la meilleure job de ma carrière. Semaine fini, nous avons maintenant une nouvelle amie dans notre groupe, Andrée-Ann. Et nous sortons pour célébrer la fin d'une semaine plutôt pénible.

Dimanche le 8 février, Isabelle et moi avons fait un petit tour de la ville. Premièrement la Cathédrale Notre Dame de Lausanne et par la suite nous nous sommes diriger à Ouchy, qui est directement sur le lac Léman. Cynthia est venue nous rencontrer à Ouchy. Plusieurs photos ont été prisent.

Et nous voilà maintenant dans notre deuxième semaine au CHUV, encore en adaptation, mais ça va de mieux en mieux. Je dois me pincer souvent pour me rappeler que j'habite en Suisse. Aujourd'hui le ciel était clair et nous avons pu voir les alps française partout autour de nous. Que c'est magnifique.

Hey Everyone

I'm happy to be able to write a blog on how life is going for me here in Switzerland. Due to internet issues I was unable to start this blog earlier. I apologize!

I left Ottawa on January 28th, I was very sad to leave behind everyone that I love so much but very excited to start this new adventure in my life. Due to an insane snow storm my flight in Montreal was delayed and with that I missed my flight in Heathrow, London. On the flight from Montreal I met a girl by the name of Maude, she was headed to Geneva to continue her studies. So we kept each other company in the Heathrow airport. When we arrived to Geneva, her swiss friend helped us with our multiple extremely heavy suitcases and also to find our way to the train that would take her to Geneva and me to Lausanne. Upon my arrival in Lausanne I couldnt believe my eyes on how beautiful it was and that I would be living here. It was INCREDIBLE.

Arriving to my appartement, I openned the door and it was larger than expected and quite clean. I immediately unpacked a couple of things and took a shower and then I went off in Chailly, which is the area where I am living. I soon realized that everything was closed past 7pm but I was able to find something to eat. The first night wasn't easy since I found myself alone in this unknown part of the world. But the next morning, when I opened my door there were three girls standing there, all from Quebec, who also had just arrived that week. Cynthia, Isabelle and Maryse, we became friends instantly. That day we helped each other find a couple essential things, like our transportation card, which gives us half price on all trains, buses and metros in Switzerland. Later on that evening, Cynthia, Isabelle and I went out on the town. We went to this club call Le bleu Lezard and we had ourselves a blast. Bars here close at 5am!

The next day we ventured out to Ikea to buy essential things for our appartement. I left with two very full Ikea bags, I felt like a moutain Yak carrying them. We took, train, bus and metro to and from the Ikea. At our exit from the metro, this lady didn't let me off the metro fast enough and unlike most automatic doors who have a sensor to stop from closing on people, well these ones closed on me, people in the metro were pushing on me while the girls were pulling on me to get out. I was very scared, although it was hilarious afterwards. I made it home safe and so did my Ikea purchases!

Monday, February 2nd, we started our new job. Monday, Tuesday and friday were in class orientation days, Wednesday and Thursday were in unit. I soon realised that it was nothing like nursing in Canada. What a difference! Wednesday when I got home I was totally beside myself and I still dont understand why patient care isnt the same around the world especially concerning head to toe assessments. I soon realised that this wouldn't be the best job to advance my nursing career but this job would permit me to travel all through Europe and experience great things. When the week came to an end, we had a new friend in our group, Andrée-Ann and we went out to celebrate the end of one LONG week, another night that ended at 5am.

On Sunday, February 8th, Isabelle and I went for a walk around the city. We first went to the Notre Dame Cathedrale of Lausanne and then to Ouchy. Ouchy is right on the Leman Lake and you can see the French Alps on the other side. Cynthia came to meet us at Ouchy. Multiple pictures were taken, it was a great day.

And now we are on our second week working at the CHUV, still adapting, but things are getting better. I often have to pinch myself to remind myself that I am truly living here. It is so beautiful. Today the sky was clear and you could see the French Alps everywhere, it is simply amazing.
